One extended cruise through the Land Down Under has been cancelled following the death of an senior female passenger who was left behind by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

Suzanne Rees had been trekking on Lizard Island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a break. The ship sailed away leaving her and returned later that day after the crew became aware the lady was not present.

An extensive rescue mission located her person the next day.

Officials are investigating the event, together with police and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer said that guests and staff on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "sad loss and previous technical problems".
